100 Prayers God Loves to Hear and 100 Praise Songs by Stephen Elkins was a pleasant book and cd set to review. The pictures are simple, which I appreciate as I don’t like a lot of visual clutter.  My nearly 4 year-old daughter loved having the prayers read to her and she understands a lot of what she hears. Each of the pages is also short enough for my 2.5 year-old to listen to too.  My kids like to go to sleep with music on in their room and I love using the cds for that.  I don’t have to worry about questionable content and I can rest in the fact that even while they are asleep they are absorbing the Word of God.

Each page covers a different topic that you can pray about, teaching kids that we can and should pray about everything.  There are prayers directly from the Bible that people prayed, and prayers from famous people who believe (or believed if they are no longer living) from Mother Theresa to Abraham Lincoln.  I absolutely loved the prayer of the unborn child and got misty eyed when I read it.

I highly recommend this book for families.  It is a great springboard to take toddlers and preschoolers through a series of devotions on prayer (which can be difficult to teach them) and older independent readers will benefit from reading it themselves.  The music is an added bonus (2 cds) and can be used in conjunction with or separately from the book (like we put them in for our kids to go to sleep to)

I was given a copy of this book from Book Sneeze by Thomas Nelson to read and review.  All opinions are mine and mine alone and no other compensation was received for this review..
