Tonight my husband went to judo practice. The girls and I stayed home and made this cross between a pie and a cobbler. I had a bag of frozen sweet cherries and a bag of blackberries which I combined with sugar. While the Bugs and the Beans were “stiring” it (read that sampling of the frozen fruit…) I mixed together a box of pie crust (yes, I used a box mix for my pie crusts. I have never been able to get a good, tasty result from home made. Even with my mother, the queen of pie crusts, supervising every move I made with it. If you can help me with home made, please do so!). I put half the crust in the bottom of my favorite 8×8 pan, the berries and and then sprinkled the rest of the pie crust on top like a crumbled topping. Before popping it into the oven, I sprinkled more sugar on top.  It sure looks yummy!

  1. It was very yummy! Thank you babe, you are the best!

  2. You’re welcome. Glad you liked it. The girls had fun “helping” (tasting, licking, mixing, etc.) too.

  3. Just dropping by from the Crew. I commend you on your pie efforts. I have made very bland pie crust in the past myself, and have been buying pie crusts ever since. However, I do plan to try the crust recipe in the January 2010 edition of Molly’s Money-Saving Digest ( http://www.theoldschoolhousestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=166&products_id=13847 ). Basically, you cut 1 cup of butter into 2 cups of flour and then add either 1 cup of coconut flakes or finely chopped nuts. Your cobbler looks great!
